NWS in Jackson -Multimedia Weather Briefing-

Posted by David Cole on October 14, 2009

The National Weather Service in Jackson MS has a new feature on it’s page.. Its called “Multimedia Weather Briefing.”

They said it will only be usually updated every Thursday, but I’m sure they’ll do updates between then.

It’s basically any upcoming weather events done in a presentation (briefing) format.

The Multimedia Weather Briefing is designed to be a briefing tool. The briefing will be updated with information concerning the latest forecast challenges, forecast uncertainty, and weather hazards. The idea is to give you more of the “Why?” of the forecast and any anticipated changes in the forecast for the following seven days.” JAN

For the briefing, NWS JAN Multimedia Wx Briefing.

Also, in the future if you want to view it, look on the left side of the blog for the icon-

The white line is where I traveled too.. Something told me to travel towards North Hills onto Highway 39 where I was told winds got high enough it was hard to open a door against it. Meridian NAS about several miles NE of that area, winds gusted to mid 30’s.. But remember, the wind gust varied as it didn’t get bad at my house. That was not the case about 6 miles south of me where Meridian Key Field got winds upward to 50mph!

Here are a few pics I took..

Intersection of Extension B. and Highway 19.

Highway 19 South.. Those cars were going fairly slow.

Going North on Chandler Road. The rain was coming down heavy, but this is nothing odd. This road is ALWAYS (ALWAYS!) getting heavy rain.

Meridian Burn Ban Lifted

Posted by David Cole on July 20, 2009

From WTOK

Posted July 20, 2009 at 7:50pm

The rain in Meridian over the last week or so has allowed officials to drop a ban on outdoor burning.

That ban was instituted inside the city after several weeks of little or no rain.

Officials say sufficient rain has fallen to make burning outside safe again.

However, you still must get a permit. Permits issued prior to the ban are still valid.
