Good (black) Friday,
Here is a current look at the Bonita Lakes Mall

Today, Friday, will be a perfect day to be outdoors and shopping. Though its cool outside, at least its sunny.
Speaking of cool, last nights lows got on down there. Here are the some of the overnight lows from around the area.

The lowest I found was the one highlighted in blue, which is my station. I can assure you that is accurate! My thermometer is in a Stevenson screen, so it’s pretty much exposed to the true temperature. All stations together, this is the coldest night so far this season.
As for tonight, look for temps to once again fall down to around 30 to 32 degrees. With clear skys and light winds, we might slip into the upper 20’s- yet again.
The weekend… Saturday looks great with highs warming to the mid/upper 60’s. By Sunday, the weather will be begin to change as an upper level low moves this way and swings a cold front through the area. Rain chances pick up best late Sunday into Monday. They continue through mid week as the front drifts back this way and drags another low through. Monday-Wednesday will be a cool and damp day with cloudy skys. Very similar to the other many days we have seen of cloudy weather. One last thing, by Sundaytemps will be top out near 70! Highs in the 50’s follow for the first half of the work week.

**UPDATE: The FREEZE WARNING goes into effect at 4am Friday morning and goes until 8am.
———-

First of all, Happy Thanksgiving!
The FREEZE WATCH issued last night for tonight into Friday morning has been upgraded to a FREEZE WARNING. The FREEZE WARNING is still in effect for the local counties of Lauderdale, Clarke, Jasper, Smith, Scott, Newton, Neshoba, Leake, and Kemper county. The FREEZE WARNING is also in effect for several other counties in MS and parts of AL.
Temperatures are still forecasted to dip below 32 degrees around the area, with lows forecasted to bottom out near 30 degrees. But I’m betting temps will reach 27-29 degrees in a few isolated rural area (CURRENT CONDITIONS).. Last nights low was 34 degrees, but we got down to 31-32 degrees.

Good Evening,
Tonight will be the first of 3 nights with lows falling to lower 30’s. Tonight, the forecasted low is 34°F.
As yet another surge of cooler air will be making its way through the area during the day Thanksgiving keeping our temperatures for highs in the mid 50’s.
Thursday night is the perfect setup for strong radiational cooling, which occurs on clear calm nights. With very light northerly winds helping to filter in the cooler air, lower dew points, and clear skys- this allows for the air to cool down faster. For this reason, a FREEZE WATCH has been issued. A FREEZE WATCH is issued when temperatures are forecasted to drop below 32 degrees for a few hours, this will hurt or kill sensitive plants. Lows are forecasted to bottom out near 30 degrees, and I would not be surprised if a few isolated observation sites hit upper 20’s (and that I mean the personal weather stations in the outer part of Lauderdale County.)
The following counties are under the FREEZE WATCH in the local area:

Leake, Neshoba, Kemper, Scott, Newton, Lauderdale, Smith, Jasper, and Clarke..... Thursday night into Friday
Here is the text from the FREEZE WATCH:
THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN JACKSON HAS ISSUED A FREEZE
WATCH…WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM LATE THURSDAY NIGHT THROUGH
FRIDAY MORNING.
STRONG HIGH PRESSURE…RADIATIONAL COOLING AND LIGHT WINDS WILL
COMBINE FOR THE POTENTIAL FOR FREEZING TEMPERATURES EARLY FRIDAY
MORNING OVER THE EASTERN PORTIONS OF THE AREA.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…
A FREEZE WATCH MEANS SUB-FREEZING TEMPERATURES ARE POSSIBLE.
THESE CONDITIONS COULD KILL CROPS AND OTHER SENSITIVE VEGETATION.
As for Thanksgiving, looking great! High pressure will be in full control! Again as I mentioned, high pressure will be over us and allow for a light northerly wind to filter in cooler air. Highs again will reach mid 50’s. The weather across MS and AL look great as a whole!
